What this covers
A sea voyage is a fixed-length corrosion test that nobody can intervene in halfway. The container heats and cools every day, moisture already inside condenses on the roof and rains back onto the cargo, and the doors stay shut until it arrives. Export packaging has to be specified for that, not for the warehouse it left.
How it runs

Start with the voyage
Route, duration, season and whether the goods sit in a yard at either end. A four-week tropical route is a different problem from a two-week coastal one.

Choose the barrier
Standard VCI film for shorter runs; aluminium barrier laminate where the moisture has to be kept out for months rather than weeks.
- 03
Size the desiccant
The barrier keeps new moisture out; the desiccant deals with what was sealed in with the cargo. Both, or neither works properly.
- 04
Line the container
Where the whole load needs protecting rather than each item, a container liner treats the container as the package.
