What this covers

Corrosion is not one problem with one answer. A machined part in a dry store, a coil in a yard and a gearbox in a container each fail differently, and the packaging that suits one wastes money on another. This is the consultative end of what we do: work out which mechanism is actually at play, then specify against it.

How it runs

  1. 01

    Identify the metal

    Ferrous, non-ferrous or mixed. Mixed-metal assemblies need an inhibitor formulated for both, which narrows the options quickly.

  2. 02

    Establish the exposure

    Indoors, outdoors, coastal, containerised. Duration matters as much as severity. Twelve months indoors can be worse than four weeks at sea.

  3. 03

    Pick the mechanism

    A vapour inhibitor for enclosed spaces, a barrier where moisture must be excluded, a desiccant where it is already inside, an oil where the surface must be coated. Often more than one.

  4. 04

    Check it holds

    The package has to survive handling and storage as designed. A protection system that gets opened for inspection and resealed badly is no system at all.
