Machinery Export
Capital equipment on long sea freight.
How we support machinery export
Capital equipment leaving the country by sea spends weeks or months inside a container before anyone sees it again. Machines, tooling and assembled plant go in clean and have to arrive the same way, so the protection travels with them and holds for the whole voyage. We specify, wrap and seal machinery for export, at your site or ours.
The corrosion problem
A steel container cycles through a wide temperature range every day at sea, and the moisture that came aboard with the load condenses on the cargo overnight. Over a long voyage the cumulative wetting is significant, and nobody can inspect the equipment until it lands. Standard film slows moisture but does not stop it, so a long run needs a sealed barrier and a desiccant load inside it.
Where we work in this sector
- Machine tools and production plant
- Assembled equipment crated or shrouded for the voyage.
- Large fabrications and structures
- Oversized items wrapped in place on the trailer or in the yard.
- Spare parts and tooling packs
- Loose components consolidated into sealed barrier packs.
- Knocked-down and project shipments
- Equipment broken down for container loading.
What we usually recommend
- Export & marine packaging
Barrier bagging, desiccant and crating specified for the route and transit time.
- VCI Papers, Foils & Laminates
Aluminium barrier laminates for sealed, moisture-tight packs.
- Onsite & offsite machinery packaging
Preserving equipment too large to send to a packing facility.
